Meet The Chainsaw!

The thing I love about being part of The Chainsaw Gang is how much good YA fiction I’m getting to read – on tap – from the members…One of these is Alex Milway who has just launched a new series called The Mythical 9….The first book is called Operation Robot Storm and here’s what I thought of it…

‘It should be the middle of summer, but Snowdonia is beseiged by blizzards and ice storms. Something is wrong, and that something is an evil genius called Balaclava, who’s hell-bent on taking over the planet. What the world needs is an elite band of yeti agents – the Mythical 9th Division!’

In ‘Operation Robot Storm’, Alex Milway, (of ‘Mousehunter’ fame) introduces us to the Mythical 9th Division – one of the LEGENDS teams that work for the United Nations. LEGENDS stands for The League of Extraordinary and Genetically enhanced Defence Squads, (what else?) and this particular team is made up of three yetis.

As can be seen in his acronyms, Milway’s writing is filled with humour throughout, and as we follow the adventure of the three Yetis, Albrecht, Timonen and Saar, he keeps up a fast-pace that will keep even the most reluctant reader turning the pages. I loved the mix of graphic novel and normal text. A mix of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, James Bond and the X-Men, this is a great book for boys, and this 30-something woman loved it too!

There’s nothing like hearing good things about your book from the people that count – The readers!

A lovely review in from the booksforboys blog!
